REQUIRED

• 30-50 blank CD-Rs
• headphones with a walkman-style miniplug (1/8") end or adaptor

OPTIONAL

Optionally, you may also want to buy a portable recording device. There are several options to consider here:

• most expensive ($600-$1500) would be a portable DAT recorder.
• not quite as expensive ($180-$400) is a portable MiniDisc recorder.
• another option would be a video camera, either analog ($200-$600) or digital ($600-$2000)
• finally, the least expensive option would be an handheld recorder, either analog cassette ($30-$100) or a digital voice recorder ($50-$300).

Also, you'll need some sort of microphone to go with your portable recorder. Some have them built in (like the handheld recorders); portable DATs and MiniDiscs won't, however.
