Custom Synthesizer Cabinet

Design Brief

My friend and mix engineer Alex Taam (aka Mogi Grumbles) came to me with a challenge: he needed a custom synthesizer cabinet for his priceless vintage analog synthesizers that would maximize the footprint in his small studio space, while allowing for easy access to play and manipulate the controls of each instrument. After back-and-forth brainstorming and design work in Autodesk Fusion 360, we settled on this custom design, which uses industrial-grade full-extension drawer slides to allow each shelf to pull out for complete access to every control. The cabinet is built out of maple plywood and solid maple, and used a laser-cut template to create the oval back panel cutouts (for both ventilation and easy cabling).
